About Me

IMG_4153.JPG

I was born in Pocatello, Idaho, and spent my early childhood there before my father's work brought our family to Washington.  In 2021, my family was drawn to Yelm seeking the small-town spirit and sense of community that makes this place so special.

I studied English at Northwest University before stepping into leadership roles in both business and community organizations. I served as Interim Business Development Director for the Master Builders Association of King & Snohomish Counties and have spent the past 13 years with COMC, where I've gained managerial experience. My background also included 30 years of family small business experience, giving me firsthand understanding of the challenges and rewards that come with community relations. In addition, I bring leadership experience in human resources and accounting, skills that have equipped me to navigate complex organizational needs with clarity and accountability.

As a wife, mother to 5, and new grandmother; I have found my passion in service to others and my community. I have proudly served with FeedSeattle, the campaign to build Safeco Field (now T-Mobile Park), Salvation Army, and through churches and schools. I also have 7 years as a Girl Scout Troup Leader. Since 2021, I have served on booster clubs for Fort Stevens Elementary and Yelm Middle School and have a seat on the YCS Strategic Planning Committee. I sit on the board and serve as Volunteer Coordinator Citizens for Yelm Schools. Currently, I also manage the Facebook pages for Parents of Yelm (a subgroup of Citizens for Yelm Schools), Yelm United and Yelm Rising. I have also assisted at food banks and with the summer food bagging campaign for the Rotary of Yelm.

I'm now running for Yelm Cemetery Commissioner, Position 2 to ensure our community's final resting places are maintained with transparency, respect, and honor. Through my professional experience, I've developed skills in budgeting, planning and ensuring accountability to the public. My background in small business, management, human resources, and accounting has provided me with the key skills needed for successful cemetery operations. My years of community involvement have prepared me to serve as Yelm Cemetery Commissioner with dedication and care. As a Girl Scout leader, I learned the importance of mentoring and building future leaders. Through homeless outreach, I gained compassion and deeper understanding of community needs. Serving on school booster clubs and the Strategic Planning Committee taught me how to collaborate, plan and advocate for families. Volunteering with schools, Rotary, churches and other public service organizations has given me firsthand experience in bringing people together to achieve meaningful results. These experiences have equipped me with the leadership, perspective, and commitment needed to serve the Yelm community through the work of the Cemetery Commission.
